Christmas Stockings and Printing in the Dark!!

Carrying on from the Christmas baubles I've been making I whipped up a few stockings. It's funny I feel rather odd making holiday decorations when its totally still November but its not like my house is decorated! Naturally these aren't the most over the top, festive things I could have dreamt up but I'm going with an alternative Christmas and sticking with it haha!!

Last week i managed to get a few things printed. It's definitely fun trying to keep up with keeping the shop stocked! I had a dress that my sister bought me that I thought could do with a revamp. Also a cute cotton skirt that benefited from adding a few Zebras.

I also printed up a few pashminas and smaller scarves too. I've made myself one too. They're super cosy. I used a waterbased ink so the print sits in the fabric rather than on top as with oil based inks which lends for a softer scarf, you definitely wouldn't want to snuggle into a plastisol print!

I found a few pictures on my phone from when I was printing, it was an interesting afternoon as half of the strip lights in the workshop were out. Good lighting is so helpful when trying to mix colours and line up prints!

Ah I've been super busy this week and have so much more to share! Its been a struggle trying to find time to blog about it but hopefully I can fill you in on the new stuff over the weekend.

Today at CFQ

I've been a slacker with writing blog posts this week. Well I say that but the week has just flown by and I haven't had a moment to really sort my self out and sit down and write something of interest I guess!

I took a load of photos at CFQ today to do some promotion for the Facebook page that has been set up.

Here's some of my stall that I took.

I also put the Christmas Tree up this week in the shoppy!!

The Crimbo decorations are coming on well, I'm enjoying the crochet ones :) I've tried to do a selection so I have a few with traditional colours and then some crazy colours too!

I've been making some button earrings and have also been printing this week so have lots more to share! Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Yarn Bombing and Crimbo Decorations!

This week has flown by. It's been fun working in the shop and I've been making things whilst I've been sat at my desk too!

There's an awful tan coloured staircase in my space at CFQ so I decided to yarn bomb it to jazz it up. I'd seen a picture on line of a bike rack being eaten by a yarn bomb snake and it was amazing, so huge and dramatic, so I decided to homage it on a smaller scale and crochet up a beast of my own.

I used mainly treble stitch (UK crochet stitch) as the fabric would grow much quicker. It was a flat piece that I stitched up onto the banaster then I added some toy eyes to finish him off. He has cheered up the place this week :)

I've spent the past few days working on some Christmas decorations to sell in the shop! I made a few from felt and thread, creating traditional bauble shapes but with fun colours. I stitched down each layer and then blanket stitched a backing in a contrasting colour.

Earlier in the week I started re-vamping a denim jacket. I'm thinking of adding some studs to the colour tips too. The Singer is really great with heavy weight fabrics and denims. Love it!

Our lovely friend Dani has just dropped off a couple of knitting machines and a pile of wool so I have some interesting crafting fun coming up! Hopefully I'll have some sample pieces to share soon. If I find any good you Tube tutorials on how to use the beast then I'll post them up too.
